If you see a misleading advert, is it really important if it's for 50p or £50? What is the cut-off point and why?
The OP was disgruntled, went out of their way based on incorrect information in an advert, the ASA deal with misleading info in advertisements. I reckon it's up to them, if they have the info, to choose to complain or not - so I just gave them the info to make their own decisions.0 -
I went in my local Morrisons yesterday and there was tons of the stuff - Apple & Blackcurrant, and Orange and Mango I think it was. It wasn't with the rest of the drinks, it was a large pallet of them at the front entrance.
Of all the supermarkets I find Morrisons by far the best stocked for offers like these - they also had half price onions, Cadbury's brunch bars for £1 a box, half price new potatoes and Frijj at 55p a bottle. All were well stocked.
Maybe you were just unlucky with your local store OP. I used to live near a uni and subsequently my local Morrisons NEVER had the offers in, the shelves having been stripped bare whilst I was at workbut when I was a student I did the same so I don't begrudge.
Have to say I agree, morrisons where I am is always the best stocked supermarket with offers and put out so you can clearly see them, unlike asda, tesco and sainsburys
Lots of stock here, I think maybe you were unlucky?0 -
I went in today. A big pallet at the front and loads of bottles near each till.0

i ALSO agree my Morrisons is always very well stocked with offers0

Its when they put 'non-special offer' varieties/packs with the 'special offer' signs that really gets me! You have to watch them like a hawk! I always check my reciept too, to make sure the offers have been applied, often they have not been.0

Advert says 'all varieties', shop says 'selected lines', misleading advert - take screenshots and contact asa.org.uk who will take it up with Morrisons.
I can hear the toothless ASA's response already: "This advert must not appear again in its current format."
That's the only thing they ever do.0 -

Totally. That's all they can do. But it's not like the OP is going to be trying to claim compo (I trust!), so if they want some small place to vent...0 -

And as has already been pointed out there is the disclaimer subject to availability. And how do we know the store in question didnt have big pallets of them elsewhere as othrrs have said.
No point going to asa because the company will point out all the disclaimers.

sales taticts drag you in and you might buy something in store anyway
what sales tactics are these then, maybe just maybe the shelves hadnt been stocked with the squash thats in the warehouse, ive seen it before where theres gaps on the shelves becuase some numpty hasnt checked the warehouse and restocked the shelf or maybe teh squash hadnt been delivered yetThis seem to be, effectively, a large scale 'bait and switch'.
Would trading standards be interested?
why bother trading standards, its no bait and switch for reasons described above,
i wish people would stop the scaremongering and giving people ideas
or better still OP why not just ask a member of staff,0
