As said before you could base risk on NCB and years driving experience, would be so much easier and fairer. The stats have gone too far!
All new drivers pay more than all experienced and claim free drivers.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

So, why should someone in a low risk area pay the same as someone in a high risk area?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Because I don't drive the same as all my neighbours and my car is very secure for its class.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

They already do that. Plus they use all the other various factors which are correlated with risk.
Person A who lives in Moss Side and who has exactly the same experience and NCD as person B who lives in Jersey is a much higher risk (all other things being equal) and will be priced accordingly. If you think otherwise then you don't know how insurance works.0 -

I know how insurance works, I just don't agree with it.
I do agree profession should have nothing to do with it, I wouldn't be happy if my premiums went up next year because I few accountants crashed there cars.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

This no doubt means increases for men who name women as drivers on their policy too.0

As it is me and my other half are both named drivers on each other policies, right now I save money for adding a less experienced driver to my policy and it costs her money for adding a more experience driver to her policy... surely thats not right...
Anyway it will be interesting to see how this effects the 2 quotes, I guess it will reverse it to a logical standpoint of adding the experienced driver reduces the premium.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2011/03/10/insurance-companies-%e2%80%98discriminating-against-crash-test-dummies/
The car insurance industry has been accused of hiking premiums for the model humans used to test safety belts, airbags and shatterproof windscreens. Crash test dummies claim that it is now almost impossible for them to get motor cover, such is the prejudice against them and their reputation as dangerous drivers.
‘As soon as you tell them your occupation, it’s like, they don’t want to know’ said Kevin 21, from his hospital bed in Dagenham. ‘It’s like, ‘Oh Crash Test Dummy?’ – that’s actually the highest risk category and sorry, we no longer insure drivers of that profession. Plus you’re a male and under 25 so frankly it would be cheaper to hire a chauffer and a private limo…’0 -
It is not ridiculous, as basing some of the premium rating on the gender of someone is a bit of generalisation. You cannot decide your gender, so it is bit discrimantory to just be rated highly, because stats may show that younger males have more accidents.
As for the bit about hairdressers, there are also expensive places where men can go to and there is nothing to stop a women going to a mens barber.
The list at my hairdresser quotes £12 for men and £24 for women to have their hair cut. This is unisex. If their hair is the same length, and they get the same cut, why is one twice as much?
Some barbers will not cut women's hair, or may charge more if they do.:(0 -

As much as I see the point, the bigger point is with a barbers if you don't like it go elsewhere.
