Re: LordNelsonHotel, Liverpool going into Administration losing booking fee of £235 (Payment Method Bank Of Ireland MasterCard Credit Card)
I had booked my parents to stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel; Liverpool from the 15/03/2011 to the 19/03/2011 this booking was made back on the 13/01/2011 the amount that was charged to my Bank of Ireland MasterCard credit card was £235.
I received a letter from the Lord Nelson Hotel; Liverpool (Now called Metro Inns Ltd) on the 26/02/11 saying that the firm has went into Administration and can now no longer honour our booking, on the letter I received it states if I paid by credit card I may be entitled to a refund.
I have contacted the hotel to ask about getting my money back or was it possible to still keep the room, but have been told that I need to speak to my credit card company to see about getting money refunded, and that the room is still available but I’d have to pay the £235 again as the last booking doesn’t count as money is now lost.
I have all the below documentation:
·Credit card statement which I paid the £235
·Online booking confirmation
·Letter received on 26/02/11 regarding company in administration
·Copy of Notice of administrator appointment.
I took all documents to my local Bank of Ireland branch today 28/02/2011, they photocopied all details and faxed them to a section in Dublin Bank of Ireland they deal with all credit card issues.
I’m concerned now have I taken all the correct steps to retrieve my money, I’m worried that I’ll now only get a small sum of money back rather than full amount, I did here word in the bank of getting my money back by using the Chargeback method and didn’t know or here any word of Section 75.
Is there anything else I can do to hopefully get my money back?
Thanks for any more help.

Hmmmm Looking at some of the Terms and Conditions for the Bank of Ireland's credit cards (on their UK site) it specifies that the agreement is "subject to Irish Law and the Courts of Ireland have jurisdiction in connection with it and the Credit card.
I'm not sure if you'd be able to apply Section 75 therefore as that relates to English legislation.
