Poor Credit History Due To Living Abroad....

Hi

I moved back to the UK in April 2009 after living abroad for 4 years.
I got a job pretty much straight away and opened a bank account, my wages go in every month and I have various direct debits taken out - mobile phone, utilities, rent etc.
It seems that in order to get a credit card or loan, I have to supply 3 years previous addresses in the UK, obviously I can't do this for another year!
Is there any card company that will allow me to take a card without being able to supply 3 years previous addresses?
I am also paying off 2 minor CCJ's and they should be satisfied in a few months.

thanks in advance

Gabby

    That's where the problem lies!

Can I ask what constitutes a "minor" CCJ?

Yep if it's so "minor" as not to be important, then why can't pay them off and clear them now? (Don't mean that in a nasty way...)

This will be more serious than the 3 year hurdle.

A friend of mine just supplied his overseas address (followed by 2 years here) and that was OK - though I appreciate in your case they seem to demanding 3 years in the UK.

Another way might be to supply the address of anyone who was taking care of your mail etc - eg parents. I wouldn't push it further than that though - because it could be fraudulent.

Love the "minor" CCJs comment, class.

    Hiya

the CCJ's amounted to a couple of hundred quid - one for a mobile phone and the other for a Barclaycard.
i have been paying them off monthly and both should be cleared by May.

    cheers

CCJ are about the worst thing one can have on one's credit file.
(Even ‘settled‘ won‘t make a great deal of difference.)

Those judgements will stay on your file for six years. No lender will touch you.
After all, you had a credit card and you blew it.

There is NO such thing as a minor CCJ, one for £8 will have the same effect as one for £8000 when it comes for applying for credit.......it's like saying a minor limb aputation :D
