Good morning all! I had a HUGE day in terms of life yesterday - I finally got the details of my offer for moving to Uganda! I am super excited as its a cosmic leap forward in career terms, but means I'll be taking a pay cut and obviously totally changing my life come May. Super, super excited!

Stitchy - sorry work is so rubbish!! what kind of business do you want to run?

    Here's what I have today:
    • walk to work
    • meet with current boss to talk about when I can leave her team
    • if I get the contract today, negotiate with HR that my cut salary be based on my new salary in the new FY, not my 2010 one
    • lunch from home (2nd half of bnut squash soup and rye cakes)
    • crochet x5 rounds in the evening
    • dinner from stores / meal plan
    • gym at lunch or after work
    • check banking and update budget now that DDs are all out
    Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000
:DDebt free as of 1 October, 2010:D

    Morning all,

I was pleasantly surprised that it was fairly light when I woke up this morning! Long may it continue :) We have a photographer coming out this evening to discuss our options for the wedding, he's a little bit expensive for my liking but will see what he can do, I have others to look at still.

Pixie - Good luck with the NSD challenge!
Stitchy - Hope today is better at work for you, don't let anyone get you down & don't be too hard on yourself for comfort eating, everyone does it once in a while just try to keep it that way.
    Candy - Welcome back!

  • Morning everyone!

Today I was planning to have an NSD, but am having an amazing bargain day instead. Was looking on the New Look website yesterday for some clothes for work, but a lot of things were quite expensive. Went on there this morning to have a look and everything I wanted was over 50% off! Amaaaaaazing :)

    Today I will:-
    - Have lunch from home
    - Not eat bread! (Not moneysaving but is helping my health - bread makes me ill :()
    - Not spend anymore money
    - Not drink coffee but have herbal/fruit teas as well (Again, coffee makes me ill even though I loves it!)
    - Try and be a bit more cheerful yesterday

    Happy Moneysaving!
    October Grocery Challenge - £67.18/£135
    Save up £500 - £0/£500

Morning everyone. Happy St Davids Day to our Welsh forumites, Happy New Month to everyone. Lots of new challenges starting today. Good luck to everyone taking part in any of them.

Feeling quite pleased that I found my first Tesco 1p bargains yesterday, all thanks to the thread on the Grabbit while you can board.

OH should hopefully get the stall open today. Yesterday was about getting the carpet down, shelving and counter in, and setting up the stock. A little more to be done today, but it should open for trading this afternoon.

    Today I have/will

    - Showered using toiletries from my recent hotel stays
    - Made sandwiches for lunch at work
    - Walked to the station
    - Found 5p on the way
    - Free coffee, newspaper and apple from my friend in the 1st Class lounge at the station
    - Charging phone on the train
    - Check banking when I get to work. Lots of bills and direct debits going out today
    - Work out budget for the rest of the month til payday (still 2 and a bit weeks away)
    - Have a LSD possibly a NSD. Depends if I get time to visit my son's grave. Will get flowers if I get time, otherwise it should be a NSD.
    - Meal from stores

Can't think of anything else today. Have a great day everyone

    Morning all :D

Well, I am celebrating the fact that my younger daughter has been allocated a place at her secondary school of choice. Going for a coffee in town later with a friend - we haven't indulged for ages.

Apart from that little naughtiness, here's my list for the day:

    - checked online banking
    - making bread
    - lunch on leftovers
    - others have gone with packed lunches
    - heating down (it's COLD here today!)
    - laundry on airer
    - going to Morrisons, armed with list and daughter, who is the Price Finder (I find that small pricing print impossible to read without my specs)
    - checked for and done surveys
    - check for/do comps
    - start tackling the last file in my "system"

Happy St David's Day to all those celebrating :D

  • Morning everyone, happy St Davids Day.

Today is a rest day, back to work tomorrow. Had a good day on the spending front yesterday in that I spent a lot but only bought stuff we need, like new shoes for OH, and bought everything through Cashback site or with nectar points. Still hunting out the cheapest bargain though. Hopefully today will be cheaper!

    Today I plan to:-
    1. Check banking - done - I can see I am making a dogs dinner of my budgeting this month so need to have a thorough review and get back on track. For some reason I wrote a loan payment as being £100 less than it actually is. Why would I do that???? So a sit down needed later to review the figures and where we're at.
    2. Go for hair cut, at last. Got the cheapest option I could find but I can't go on any longer without having it cut.
    3. Lunch out today, sounds extravagent but I have pizza express clubcard vouchers and we are going to treat Mum and best friend
    4. Tesco delivery coming at 4. Took advantage of the "come back to us and we'll give you £10 off" offer so a bit of free food coming into the house later
    5. Hole punch paperwork so it can go in bill folder
    6. Competitions must be got on with, it has been about a week since I entered any which is just not good enough! Hopefully a quiet afternoon in in front of a film doing comps
    7. Pick car up from garage and fill it up using fuel voucher at Tesco
    8. Pay for car to be fixed! Not very MS at all but has to be done

Have a lovely day everyone, here's to as little money being spent by us all as we can manage!
If you knew it then you know it!

    £3160/£11,000
  • I've been away from the site for over a year but I've been doing great, a lot of it is to do with the little things so thought I'd reply here. Also I am in the process of relocating to a new city and moving house so my list might be a little differnet

    - checked internet banking and moved money to dedictaed account for bills to make sure no unexpected charges!
    - breakfast lunch and dinner from the contents of my freezer which I am trying to eat through before the move so I don't need to throw out stuff
    - working at home so avoiding train fares
    - collating all remaining work expenses to get paid before I leave for new job
    - finding some special offers in Manchester for my night out on Friday
    - going for a run instead of the gym

    and the big one....

    - spending the evening sorting stuff for a car boot on Sunday!
  • Thanks for all your good wishes. I was forced to take this job when my JSA ran out after my redundancy. DH has been off sick for almost three years so it's about time he started back, but in this economic climate it's difficult for a fit person to find work never mind someone who will need to start on light duties on a phased return!
Pernicious - I'm staying away from the bakery today (but I do have emergency digestives in my desk drawer :D)
Nottoobadyet - as my user name implies, I would like to set up a sewing business, but specialising in bespoke corsetry. I can dream.....
