Help needed on British gas & Electricity DD
Hi,
i have recently opted for Direct Debt for British Gas & Electricity. They are charging £34 & £28 respectivelywith DD.Earlier i used to pay as and when the bill is sent. i.e.I used to pay Gas on average of £32 per month and Electricity on average of £ 20.
Can anyone please tell me if I use less amount of Gas & Electricity ,will i be charged the same amount as mentioned in the DD..?.(silly question but better be silly rather than being shocked later)
Thanks alot

BG normally assess DD payments at the end of the first year.
If you have a large credit balance(£100 or so) you normally get that refunded.
If you have a smaller credit or debit balance at the end of the year that is included in the calculation to decrease or increase your DD payment. The future DD payment also takes into account your consumption in the last year and any price rises/decreases.
If your consumption decreases after a few months of this first year, you can always call BG and ask them to reduce your DD. They will normally comply if they have some evidence to support your lower consumption e.g. 1 or 2 quarterly bills0 -
Thanks a lot Cardew.glad to hear know that.0
