cash converters, help pls

on tuesday i bought a recording set top box from cash converters in lincoln for £90. I was told it could be returned within 7 days for a refund or withing a certain amount of days for credit. when i tried the box at home i found that it made the quality of the tv terrible, def not up to the standard of the free view of the tele normally. i tried to take the recording box back to newark branch today. i was told there were a completely different organisation so i couldn't take it back there.

Please can anybody tell me my rights and send a link for me to print out. I can't believe i only have 7 days to take it back, nevermind to a specific store.

i would love any help, i can't feel like i wasted £90. :-(
Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.

    Cash Converters are franchised outlets.

In other words they are not all owned by the same company.

It seems that you have discovered that the Lincoln CC business is a different business to that in Newark.

You need to go back to Lincoln.

If the product is faulty, then that seven days may not be important.
  • Cash converters stores all operate as a franchise so when buying something you are in effect buying from that particular store and not from a group.
This is why they would specify that you must return the item to the store that you purchased it from.

However, if the set top box isn't working correctly, you should e-mail the store concerned (you can get their contact details here)

    http://www.cashconverters.co.uk/find-my-nearest-cash-converters-store
And inform that of the problem stating that you would like a full refund when you return the goods.
Also, make sure that you let them know that you might not be able to get it back to them for a while.
  • Living in Lincoln myself, the freeview quality here is absolutely pants. You need some sort of booster at the very least. It's possible that your normal freeview device has that built in, and the recorder you bought doesn't.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
