I have a dd due out on 26th of every month to HMRC, this month that was Saturday so I was expecting the dd to leave my account today but its still not gone out and isn't even showing as applied for. Is this a problem at the banks end or HMRC and who should I call tomorrow about it?
I can't understand it not going out as its been set up and running fine for 2 years

I do not understand what you mean by this.
But certainly closing an account simply because one direct debit was late is not going to help the situation.
HMRC have full control over the DD, not the bank, so it's most likely to be a problem at their end, that caused them to skip the payment or for it to be delayed by a day or two.0 -

Worst MSE forum advice ever.0 -
I was due to have a payment going out today to HMRC, no payment taken, this is the first time a payment has not gone out. I had a quick look at their website and it does say they are changing their bank to natwest, and any giro payments or standing orders need to go to their new account. I dont know how long ago this was, but it may be that the payments are delayed because of them using a new bank. I will just leave the money in my bank and see what happens.0

I also have a DD due to go out today to 3 Mobile, hasn't come out yet. Strange... Funds are there, even got an overdraft to fall back on.0

HMRC changed their accounts to RBS and Citi in 2009! And that only impacts payments you initiate ..... no effect on DDs.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
