Recovering deleted Essay on a mac - help!

PLease cn anybody give me some advice, I think I have accidentaly deleted my essay from my mac, I can't find it anywhere (which isn't helped by the fact that i can't remember what I called it) is there a way to recover deleted pages and/or .doc files?

Can you not look in word for recent docs that were open, is there not a rubbish bin like on the pc and look in there for any word docs0

I have it's not there, I also did a search of the mac drive for any .doc and any .pages and it wasn't any of them

Have you not got Time Machine set up?It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC0

Not tried it myself but Test Disk is a free open source recovery program.
Test Disk Wiki here

Isn't it in the bin? It'll stay there until you empty it. Last icon on the right in the dock.0
