I have a Kindle and love it, you can actually go online with the Kindle, its something they are trying out . Not very easy to navigate around or type but it might get better, the thing about the Kindle is its so light and small you can hold it with one hand and turn the page with your thumb, you can read it outside in bright sunlight perfectly, battery last a month before recharging , it will read the book to you if you want and you can store 3500 books on it I can't fault it... everyone has a different opinion but as I say I love it..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I love my kindle. I like the fact it isn't backlit so it feels more like reading a book. It is really user friendly. I personally am not bothered about going online with it as i have my phone and computer for that, and if i am reading I don't really feel the need to browse the internet. I'm sure there will be lots of different opinions though.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0

Kindle, I can carry loads of books on a very light, easy to use bit of kit. Our family share ours and it holds the place of all (?) the books being read.0

Surprisingly you buy Kindle books from Amazon. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

There also loads of free books in the Amazon Kindle shop, some there that I read years ago that I've enjoyed reading again and lots of classics..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I definitely concur with tanith and foxybabe. My wife bought me a Kindle for my birthday and I find it excellent as a e-reader. The e-ink display produces less eyestrain than reading on a LCD computer screen or an I-Pad and since the battery allegedly lasts for up to a month before it needs to be recharged you don't have to worry as much about finding somewhere to plug in.
As well as the amazon low price/free classics most other books are substantially cheaper than the paper version and you can download a sample for free to help you make up your mind.0 -
I suggest you use Calibre its very useful for manipulating/ converting ebooks as kindle sometimes has issues displaying PDF files.
Google dan brown ebook or any book of your choice there are lots are lots of links -
Some for amazon, some for barns and noble, water stones etc. You may want to investigate the others.
PM me If you need any advice.0 -
Thanks for your advice. Think I'm going to get kindle.
What does everyone have wifi? I have wifi at home so that would probably do the job.
Where did everyone get one from?
When I asked where you get books from I meant can you also download books from waterstones etc? The kindle app on my phone doesn't appear to have a lot of titles, thinking its the wrong version especially when the prices are in USD!0 -
If you travel around a lot get the 3g version otherwise the wifi only model is fine.
The folks from the university of the blindingly obvious would suggest getting one from Amazon.
If you get the 3 g version its up and running and connected to your Amazon account straight out of the box.
Otherwise I guess you could use some of your Tesco points against one. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
