Had a wee arguement with my D/F supplier, over who is responsible for meter housing ( I had the audasity to ask for a replacement door that got broke by meter reading man) I hung up telephone disgusted.

Called different dept later to tell them I would be switching supplier as I was far from happy. Got a 50 quid refund and, awaiting new door:j:j:j:j

no supplier is liable for your meter box, meter readers are also external companys to your suppliers.

NewsMS, duel fuel via my supplier.

PNPSUKNET, it aint my meter box, came as part of meter installation by whoever did it years ago.

Was a no brainer really, they fix, or I move supplier, thankfully commonsense prevailed. Refund was a very nice gesture though!!

It is your meter box, it may well have been part of the meter installation, but from then on it's your property and yours to repair or replace if damaged.
    So a remarkable result really.

I agree it parts of the fixtures and fitting of the property and down to the owner to maintain. However if the meter reader broke it then it should have been them you contacted to get it repaired either directly by them or by you doing it and billing them.

20+ year ago BG or whoever installed a meter with cover to the wall of my house, there was no cost to me for this install. 2002 meter was replaced, cover renewed, I signed nothing, I was there to allow safety checks after install.

My supplier subs out meter reading contracts to whoever, one reader person had to prise open cover as poor design plastic lock mechanism has age hardened and broke, this was no fault to me or the person reading meter at this time. However, I may build a new one, fit my own lock, leave a wee window for person to read meter. If I do this, then it will be my responsibility to maintain, if it was any other way, why the result I received yesterday?

Maybe the lady liked my accent
