Can you catch chicken pox twice?

Just wondered as i've exposed my children to catch it a week ago(hopefully) and i had it 4 years ago as an adult.

However today i've experienced aching limbs, headache, slight itching and I then wondered is it possible to catch it twice. I hadn't crossed my mind until today but i clearly remember these puzzling symptons appeared prior to the spots developing the first time.

I'll be well put out if that's the case as the plan was for the kids to get it not me again.

Experiences please?

PS the moneysaving aspect it needing to go out and buy piriton and adult painkillers, so if i can avoid that and i'm just run down after an extremely busy week then fantastic.

Did they have it mildly the first time, or badly twice?

    Thanks for replying.

PS i decided not to google in case i end up with a terminal illness.
  • I've had it twice - once when I was about 3 then when I was 14.

My son had it twice - once when he was 3 then again when he was 4!!!

    So YES it IS possible

  • Generally people who only had a mild dose first time round are at higher risk of catching it a second time.

Yes you can apparently. Especially if it was mild first time around.
