Please help I need urgent advice!!!!!! Scotcall!!!

Hey there, any advice with this matter would be really help!

THis evening when I sat down with my family to eat dinner, at around 7ish a woman came and chapped my door my partner went to the door and answered it. The woman asked for me and partner taken aback said I wasn't in. I was given a little brown envelope says urgent on it. With a card in it asking me to call an mobile number of the collector from Scotcall. There is no reference number on this card or any information stating what it is about, should I call the mobile number and find out what it is about or should I go to my nearest citizens advice????

I have never had a house call should I worry??

  • have scot call been trying to contact you, or anyone at your address?
  • I havnt received any letters from Scotcall to my knowledge.. And it was me she asked for, I'm in shock..
  • any idea what debt they may be chasing, they maybe chasing something very old and hoping the knock on the door will imtimidate you into paying a statute barred debt.
  • I don't have a clue should I phone them??? Can they come into my home??
  • It is against the OFT Guidance for them to call without an appointment.
Can they come into my home??

No they cannot, only people that can gain entry is a court bailiff.

DCA's have no rights what so ever.
  • dont sweat it, they will get in touch again. let them worry about it. and no they can't come into your home unless you let them in.

I don't what the right or wrong thing to do is but if it were me I would have to call as the curiosity would eat me up, but i would call them not from my phone (mobile or landline) if you can get your hands on another sim card? hope you sort it.
  • Yep she just turned up, didn't have a clue what for no reference number nothing.... I was just going to go to the citizens advice tomorrow morning for the to deal with them on my behalf, or should I just leave it for now see what happens???
  • *I would ignore it* Anyone who says they have your personal details without your permission does not deserve to be there. I had a single parent on my doorstep claim she had my details and she solicited me for charity money. No thanks. Enough to put you off single parents thing in first place. Grrrrr

  • I've read a few other posts and they say that Scotcall are not even bailiffs they are just doorstep collectors and I should just send them a letter stating I wont deal with them at my door, Is this also true. sorry for being a pest
