Hi I want to transfer money to my mum's account. My bank says it will charge £25 for this SWIFT transfer

The £25 fee is cheaper than getting on a ferry and delivering it by hand!
You could ask the bank for the beneficiary to pay all charges so in effect they deduct the £25 from the amount paid to your mother.0
