    Nope.
I have legal protection for my home, cars, bikes, cycling, employment issues, consumer issues, tax investigations and motoring convictions defence for a very small sum.
No, I don't think there is no benefit if you need to claim on it.

Personally I would look for economies elsewhere without making major sacrifices.

Some with tell you that you can use "no win no fee" lawyers.
This is true in some cases e.g. personal injury, but in other cases e.g. tax ivestingation, motoring convictions, then they aren't interested.
They are only interested when there is another party to pay them a (generally big fat) fee.
  • thanks for your replies........ I was only referring to motor legal protection not the rest, the vast majority of non insured drivers are not well flushed with cash, I know a couple of people who have used the service to reclaim losses against un-insured drivers who won their case but got sweet F.A. due the other driver not having the funds to compensate.
I am fully comp with no claims protection the only thing I might have to pay out in the event of a non fault accident with a non insured drivsr is my excess, also in 38 years of driving I have never been involved in an accident with a non insured driver.:footie:

I don't think you fully understand what it is for.
It is for reclaiming losses that YOU are not insured for.
So it might be that you have had lots of time of work and need recompense for your income. You motor insurance policy will not help you will this as it's not part of their service and you may need the help of a solicitor. You can also use it for personal injury (although you can also do this on a "no win no fee" basis).

No, you are not understanding what it's for.
If you have an income and can't work after an accident then your fully comp policy won't cover that.
It will be an "uninsured loss".
I am not talking about the other driver. It's YOU that's uninsured for this loss.
The legal recovery will help you get this back.
also in 38 years of driving I have never been involved in an accident with a non insured driver.
Well firstly, there's always a first time.
Secondly it's not about non-insured drivers (although it could cover that). It's about losses that YOU are uninsured for and recovering them from an insurer, a council, a business or perhaps an individual directly.
Before you decide whether it's worth it, I suggest you do some research and find out what it's for as currently I think you have the wrong idea.

Of course if you don't want it then don't pay for it.
On most policies it's optional so simply decline.

If you work for the civil service, or any organisation with its roots in the civil service (post office, BT etc) you can join the CSMA. Membership gives you £100,000 of free legal cover (normally £20 ish via your insurer).

Plus of course many other benefits. More details here.

Used it twice in 20 years, and did what I wanted both times.
    1) hit a cow on the A1 in Nottinghamshire!!!!! legal cover did all the work claiming from the farmer for the damage to my car, and paid me back my excess.
    2) hit a pothole which threw up a large piece of tarmac writing off the catalytic converter. Legal cover claimed off council to cover the costs.

Without legal cover I could probably have instructed my own solicitors etc. and recovered the money eventually, but it certainly helped to have them do it!
