Following on from this thread where I went through the motions of removing the system tool from my laptop I now cannot connect to the internet via my usb dongle. It works perfectly mine on any other computer but not on the one that had the virus. Can anyone help? I've tried reinstalling it but it's still not connecting.
Many thanks

Same problem here. It wouldn't allow me to download the vista hosts in the system32 bit. I saved them as a document and my uncle has managed to get it saved into the correct place but it isn't working now. I'm online on DH's laptop. I'm hoping I can get it back up and running though.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Make sure its not changed your settings in IE, sometimes they set a fake proxy in the connection settings, just check its not ticked "use proxy"
This happened when someone at work picked up a system tool like virus (dont think it was the same as whats going around now):beer:0 -
Thanks for the suggestions, but it's still not working. Should I resign myself to taking it into PC World?0

what not connecting? IE? or the dongle?
If you've checked the proxy, post a hijackthis log!!

If you've checked the proxy, post a hijackthis log
The dongle's not working. I've reinstalled it a couple of times and everytime I open it up it states there's no connection. It works fine on my spare laptop.
Will try putting hijackthis on the usb and run it.

Are the network settings set to auto find IP?:idea:0

Why would you possibly want to do that?
All they are likely to do is reformat your hard drive, wipe everything, and reinstall the OS.
If you need to take it for fixing, go to a local independent PC repair person or shop that knows what they are doing. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
