Easy to replace, but there may be an underlying fault that has taken out the pcb, so fitting a new one may just have it blow again.

Cheapest option is BG fixed price repair or Ideal fixed price repair inc 12 months warranty.
  • thanks for this have googled bg fixed price repair will give them a call tomorrow and from what i have read about the boiler i think i would be wise to join the boiler repair sceme.
  • There are places that will repair pcb.s - but as stated the problem might be elsewhere..

My experience of having an Ocean Alpha 240p boiler is that most plumbers that turn up will work off a fault finding list and eventually get to the stage where they repalce the pcb- if needed or not.

I found the official fault finding list via the diynot.com forum and spent many (wasted) years repairing it myself.

The first fault was the grunfloss pump blowing the fuses- cost me £50 to replace, plus a couple of fuses. One plumber quoted £280 for a new pcb with a week wait....

Unfortunately most, not all, plumbers are crap at reparing boilers. Heating engineers might be .a better bet
