Hi
My partner and I have split up, though living in the same house for next 3 months. I want to change my facebook status, not set it to single just remover the "! in a relationship with ..." bit and not have anything in there.
However, I don't want it all over my wall on FB, can't be doing with all that, not ready for all the questions etc yet...but want it got rid of.
How do I do it? Do I need to deactivate my account , change the info and then reactivate it? If so how do I do that!

the easiest way to do it is to remove the relationship bit under your privacy settings, set it to 'Only me'.
Then change the status to 'single' (or leave it blank), then check your wall and if it says 'name is now single' hold your mouse over it and an 'x' shows up click on that to remove the post.
Then if you want people who go to your profile to see the status 'single' go back to privacy settings and set it to 'friends only'.
(it might not show up on your wall if you just change it to blank not single but this way people won't see it)
doing it at a quiet time is best, so if it did for some reason show up on your wall, people are less likely to see it. (or just be quick removing the post from your wall.0 -
Ok thanks for that....wasn't sure about how to go about it, was thinking about deactivating first!Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!0

Also if you delete your ex as a friend (which you should, otherwise it gets very messy later on), the relationship status should end automaticallypoppy100
