Auto Electrician Advice

Hi, if there are any auto electricians out there, could I ask your advise please? My 1985 Audi Coupe recently went in for a new rocker cover and gasket. Upon its return from the garage, the indicators don't work and the dash is dead.
My husband checked the fuse and the fuse that powers the indicators and dash had blown, we replaced it but on each turn of the ignition it is blowing the fuse again.
The earth strap is correctly connected to the rocker cover but we just can't figure out what could be causing this fuse to blow.
I know its difficult without actually seeing the engine but wondered if anyone could help me get my pride and joy back on the road?
Thanks in advance!

personally i think it is impossible to diagnose without looking as it could be several things, could be coincidence or related to rocker cover gasket.
could be wiring defect or faulty clocks could be a problem with exciter on alternator,if you have no vehicle mechanical or electrical knowledge then i would strongly advise you get it looked at by auto leccy or you could end up chasing tail around or making it worse.0 -
almost invariably if a fault develops just after something else has been repaired the two are linked so take it back to the garage.
If you fancy DIY it's a matter of checking wires/connections near the rocker cover, on a carb model prime candidate would be manifold heater, on FI try warm up regulator or Idle valve.
Quick & dirty method (and only to be done with care) is wait till it's dark, add new fuse and look for the spark0
