Nah, don't need to tell them. Sell what you want on eBay, you won't go to prison for that amount and the OR certainly won't find out unless you tell them. It's not worth there time or effort. Don't let people scaremonger you into thinking jail terms, that's reserved for serious serious serious fraud.
Everyone sells on eBay, including bankrupts and there is no harm in it.0 -

At last! A common sense answer from someone with a grip on reality. Thank you.0 -
No worries, just remember that I am referring to selling small amounts to top up grocery shopping, fuel etc... If it is something in the thousands then you'd need to either think about it, or sit on it until post discharge.
If you are concerned, just remove any trace to you selling it. I sold on eBay to top up my weekly earnings as I wasn't on much, clothes I never wore, old games, old CD's... Never made a great deal but it helped. The only thing I did do was waited until he informed me he was releasing himself as trustee by letter, then paid monies into a relatives account and had the cash. I never became paranoid during bankruptcy or scared of the OR, it can get to you just as much as being in debt if you allow it.0 -
The ORs have more pressing items to deal with in these times of cutbacks...they are not immune from "downsizing". In PRACTICE anything of VALUE should have been declared to the OR in the first place. The decision to take an interest would then have been theirs. Normal household goods are not included as assets nor are they are really interested in bits and pieces of low value which would have got nothing at auction in the first place. For example, a book you sell on ebay for £5.00 might go as part of a very big quantity of books at an auction house for as little as £1 as a single lot. Yes seriously.
Carboots, ebay, small ads, even freecycle (Giving away assets?) are NOT something the OR takes an interest in. UNLESS it is evident that you are doing it as a business. Then you ARE in trouble.0 -
It's a one off. Have no intention to sell things regularly to supplement income etc as I know that's going to end in tears.0

We all get taught to drive at the 10 to 2 position but in reality, once we have passed our test we still drive, but with hands crossed. What I am trying to say is there is a Law that we need to abide by but we should also be pragmatic, I dont think the OR would be bothered about £200.00 on Fleabay0
