Selling on ebay whilst BR

Hiyoh,
I'm thinking about selling an item on ebay to help pay for some much needed car repairs. I might get £200 for it if I'm lucky. Am I allowed to do this while BR and/or should I declare it? Also how would the OR find out I'd done it of I didn't declare it?
Thanks
Timpe

Strickly speaking you should advise the OR in you recieve any additional income. If its a one off they aren't likey to take it off you. However, if you don't report it, its also extremly unlike they would fine out. The only likely way for them to find out would be if they went through you bank statements and saw the credit from Paypal .. however, its only in very rare circumstances (if in an IPA negociation you argue you need higher than normal allowances for an item, they might ask for statements to back up that you are spending that amount on said items) that the OR would ask to see statements after the original submission of these for the OR interview process.0

Or just keep the money in your PayPal account. I'm guessing the OR doesn't check these kind of things?0

I'm pretty sure a BR is allowed to sell things...providing the OR hasn't declared an interest in them in the first place. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0

Call the OR and ask before you sell it, because failure to do so is a criminal offence punishable by up to 7 years in prison. Is it worth it to raise £200?
I hope the answer is no. So be up front, call the Examiner and ask.0 -

Three posts advocating fraud ... and people wonder why BRs have a bad name.Gone ... or have I?0 -
As I said, If the OR has no interest in your property, then it is yours to dispose of as you see fit.
It is not income....unless you are selling it as a trader.
I had a similar issue with two of my vehicles....I purchased the OR's 'interest' in them....therefore I could sell them if I so wished.....
Imagine if you could not have a 'garage sale?'No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Alistair is right. If the OR has no interest in the items you want to sell then you can sell them and use the money how you wish. What you want to do is fine.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
