I know that but that's just confusing the matter and in this situation the person does not need building insurance for the simple reason....they do not own the house!!

You do not need to own something to insure it. Insurable interest can be created through statute and contract, amongst other things.

Do you mean I have to insure the house even though I dont own it but just a tenant?

So you mean when I go to any Insurance company, I have to fill everything and then send them an email or call them and let them know I only want my contents to be covered?

I think in your case you would be better phoning for quotes rather than using the internet because you seem to be quite confused by it all and perhaps a telephone operator will be able to explain it to you better than we can do over this forum. Type into google "contents insurance" and then select a few and give them a call.
