Anything else my partner can claim for?

Hi i have spend the last hour looking through the forums and there is some great advice in here.

My partner is on IB and has just won an appeal for low care DLA, i work full time and part time but am finding it more and more physically tiring to continue doing both jobs as i have some health problems as well.

I am wondering if there is any other help my partner can claim for to help us out so i might be able to give up my part time job and spend more time with him and also for my own health.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure he needs to be receiving middle or high rate care in order to be eligible for Carer's allowance.

Hopefully someone will be along soon who can answer for sure. :)

Yes the person doing the Caring could claim Carers Allowance but in this case as they are working full time they would not be able to as their earnings will be too high.

Yes, you have to receive middle or high rate for personal care. You also must look after the person for at least 35 hours a week and earn no more than £100 per week.

If you do an SOA, we can maybe help to cut your costs so that you would be able to manage on IB, DLA and just one full time wage.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Of course, should've said that myself.

I misread the OP and thought she was planning on giving up work completely. That'll teach me to read things thoroughly in future. :o
  • Thanks everyone for your replies, thats what i thought but just wanted to check.
