Chain arguing over moving date.

Just when I think things are finally going smooth my small chain is up in arms about the completion date. Im happy to fit in whenever although the FTB at the bottom said IT HAD to be next Friday which is a bit short notice but we would have done it. My buyer has finally dug her heels in and is at the end of her tether with FTB and Im now worried its all going to collapse. Ive told my buyer who Im in contact with that we should give and take and try for the end of Nov but shes having none of it. She wants the week after and FTB has given notice on his rented accomodation without first agreeing a completion date. I know hes the one causing the problem but this has been a rocky ride and I just want to come out the other end in a new house. Too much money has been spent to loose everything now.
Will find out more on Monday.
Sorry for the rant, just dont know what to do.

I would ask your conveyancer to set out a firm date and for all parties to fit in, as you are in contact with your buyer, try to ork out a date between you and tell that to the conveyancers and ask them to speak to all parties in the chain and get this agreed on Monday. I don't know how it would work by making ultimatums to the agents but I know we had to and it worked, we said exchange has to happen on X week with completion the following or we will pull out, end of. This was the seller digging their heels in.
Maybe the person selling to the FTB needs to speak to their agent and says to the FTB they are the problem causing all of this and fingers need to be pulled out.
I know there is no easy answer to this and it's all about give and take but I know how frustrated you must all be too.
Good luck

My buyer wants to move the week commencing the 4th Dec, Im happy with this but FTB wants to move 24th Nov, I can just about do this too. I said ok we will go for the week between to keep us all happy but my buyer has seen red and doesnt think FTB should get his own way!!! Ive told my buyer to sort out what date she wants with the FTB and I will fit in but told her Im concerned with FTB pulling out if she wont give a little. She doesnt think he will, Im not too sure. God its so annoying, Im piggy in the middle.0

what about a cash incentive with christmas coming he may just agree if the offers a weeks rent? Is the problem he has given notice can he speak to his landlord and gain the extra week?Someone needs to speak to him will your purchaser provide contact details for her purchaser? You seem to be level headed and could tackle the job im sure!my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

It appears he's been calling all the shots with my buyer and pushed her over the edge and really he shouldnt have given notice without confirming a date. What annoys me is his sol said he couldnt make my deadline (6th Dec, we bought a repo) and now he has, FTB wants it all his own way. I want an easy life, will ring the EA up acting for both me and my buyer and let her sort it out. I know it is my problem too but Im prepared to go with whatever the 2 below me want. And I thought we'd got over the worse.
Thanks for listenning to my rant!!0 -
It's not your problem too, hun. It's theirs. You're co-operative and that makes things a lot better.
I think terrierlady's advice is good. If you and your buyer could find a weeks rent between you, you might appease him. In fact, if your solicitor is nice, you could ask them to say there are some things outstanding with your sale, meaning the 24th is unlikely. I'm all for honesty, but I'm all for co-operation too. If you could smack their heads together, that would probably help too
BUT even if you do neither, I *promise* he won't pull out for the sake of a few days. It's inconvenient for him, but he's put himself in this position. If he does pull out, he's even more homeless than he would have been moving on the 4th!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Oooh I'd get great pleasure
My buyer just doesnt seem to realise we could lose everything here and is being stubbon.
Spoke to my sol this morning, yes on a Sunday.. very suprised and as the wrong deed was sent by the sol acting for the repo than it is slightly delayed so the 24th is a no no. Sol reckons he will have this beginning of next week.
My buyer will under no terms contribute any money towards her buyers rent. Shes seething and is at the stage where she doesnt seem to care anymore hence me panicking a little.
Oh well what will be will be. Seems to be the statment of the year in this house buying/selling game.:rolleyes20 -
Just read your last paragraph Doozer and your right, puts things into prespective now.
Thanks for all your help, youve saved my sanity loads of times now.:D0 -
That's your FTBs request knocked on the head then! Ask your solicitor to put forward new exchange/completion dates when he says no to the 24th and take this matter out of the others' hands. If it sounds like there is no choice, they'll sulk, but they'll stop arguing at least.
People don't really realise that exchange and completion lies pretty much in the hands of the solicitors and there's not a lot they can do to control the situation, except employ decent ones!
Can't wait to see you get to the end of this!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thank god weve extra money in with our new mortgage!! Knowing my luck he will be coming home on the day we finally agree to move.0
