Car Insurance in Spain for 22y/o from UK?

Hi,

I am going to be in Spain this summer for 8 weeks, my girlfriends family are buying a low engined car for whilst we are out there.

My question is do you know anywhere I can get insured on the car for the 8 weeks or a full year? We are finding it hard unless you pay £1000's.

Is there a way of getting individually insured to drive any car / getting insured by a UK company to drive abroad?

Any help would be great. Hiring a car for the length of time is going to be far to dear.

Well your girlfriends family need to Insure the car and to include temporary named drivers as is required. It may work out cheaper for them to have an annual policy and for them to add temp add drivers as is required. They may have other visitors who may want to use the car.

You can't Insure a Spanish registered car in the UK and it is not yours anyway.

From what I have seen Insurance is pretty expensive in Spain. They would be best to use a local Spanish broker and not use one of the expat Insurance brokers. I have a feeling that these expat brokers sometimes charge a premium, because they can deal with English speakers.

Cheers huckster. We have one company which is offering 1 month free for me on a over 30 year old policy.

I have emailed a local Spanish broker who someone has recommended and I will ask for temporary insurance thanks for the advice.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you would insure the car with a UK insurer and just make sure you can take the car to Spain for 8 weeks.

We are buying an actual spanish car that will stay over there as we will be going back again in the future.

I have read that case study thats what I was after some names of companies. I had already written those down now I think we need to look at some local brokers.
