This is probably a bit rambling but here goes. last july my daughter ran up a massive bill and due to this i have been paying £150 per month to clear it. In january of this year i contacted BT to change my direct debit date and was told that my payments would now be £90 per month, i then had to go away from home for a month due to family illness and when i came home on sunday the 27th of feb i found i had a letter dated the 15th feb which told me if i had`nt paid the total outstanding £447.61p by the 25th of feb i would be cut off and i have been, i rang them this am and was told i had to pay the full amount which i cant but i said i would pay £100 per month but no joy they said i would get a final bill which i had a certain amount of time to pay and then a debt collection agency would be in touch. I live in the country with my 2 small children and need a working phone. Can anyone offer advice thanks

Call back and speak to someone else. They may allow you to have the phone but not allow outbound calls until the bill is paid. It took me a half hour of pleading poverty with them to get action delayed by 60 days due to them switching me to quarterly billing without warning.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

BT did roughly the same thing to me over Christmas when they decided to try & take more than they agreed to by DDebit, then they renaged on the agreement we had made.I simply changed to Primus &,although I couldn't make or receive any calls on my BT line,as soon as the change over took place,my phone was back up & running.
From my understanding they cannot stop you moving providers.0 -

You appear to have let your use of the telephone get out of hand and you need to rein that back in. I'd suggest using www.18185.co.uk so that all your 01/02/03 calls are 5p each.
I'm afraid that doesn't help with the outstanding amount though. If you put your offer to pay in writing, that may prevent the line being cut off.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

You will not find an email address, there isn't one, but of course the BT Rep. isn't even aware of that.:)0
