Whats the point of having disabled tax off someone if it's not for personal use

I know 2 people that gets free car tax due to a disability but they give the car tax to someone else due to not having a car themselves. Now i thought if you own the car and your given the disabled tax you was allowed to use the car for personal use as long as for you take the person shopping or to take them for their prescriptions. Now i just read To claim exemption from paying vehicle tax, the vehicle must be registered in your name or registered in the name of someone you nominate to drive for you (a nominee).
The vehicle must only be used for your purposes, for example shopping or getting prescriptions.
If it is being used by the nominee or someone else for their own personal needs, then the exemption will be lost. If you no longer qualify for vehicle tax exemption, you will need to tax your car in the appropriate tax class and pay the correct rate of vehicle tax.
So if you cannot use your own car for personal use whats the point of having the tax. Now the people i know who have received the disabled tax don't even take the people anywhere as it was just given to them as the so called disabled person could claim it and they thought it would save the person money.

I'm a little confused at your point the Tax exemption is for the disabled person so the car must be used for that person or things related to them. It's always been like that. Why should an ablebodied person get exemption for the car if the majority of the time its not used for them.

Unfortunately it is apparent you are both incapable of reasonable thought.

    Example:
    1. Mum of disabled childs uses the car to drop child into school.
    2. Mum then goes to work in the car.
    3. Mum shops and then picks up child from school
Therefore, people such as yourselves would assume Point 1 & Point 2 are correct reasons, and Point 2 does not benefit the child.

If you care to think about it, Point 2 IS benefitting the child. I will await your thinking on this as i am certain neither of you have the capacity to grasp this.

(and no....i am not the mother of a disabled child)

You seem to dedicate an unhealthy portion of your time to your dislike/distrust of things which are of no business of yours - firstly disabled parking now this.

I will agree with the points you made if you live at the same house as the disabled person.
Now the 2 people that i know don't live at the same house as the person they had the tax for. So if they take the person shopping and return home they are expected to leave the car parked up until the person needs something. Now how many people do you know would pay for insurance on their own car and are only allowed to use it when the disabled person needs it.

Again, like the blue badge scheme, this is something that is widely open to abuse. I don't think there is much of an issue with a nominated driver, eg parent or child, using the vehicle for their own use when the disabled person is not being driven in it. If it is a Motorbility funded car then I would think there are some restrictions on it it being used primariliy as someone elses vehicle, though I am also aware of a couple of cases where this has happened. Ultimately though, I suspect you are just winding us up with another thread....
