dont worry about it sweetie, these things happen, if you ever saw my clumsy 9yr DD legs you would have thought that i battered her, but she could fall over her own shadow lol
If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

  • I can't believe how quickly the bruise is moving across his face - its nowhere near where he hit it:huh: With any luck at this rate it will have got right across and out of the opposite ear by dinnertime!;)

I have had similar when looking after my nephew when he was younger, its certainly part of growing up.

With that I remember some of the things me and my brother got upto when we where younger, suprised we survived with hindsight.:rotfl:
Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
Quit day job to run 3 businesses 08/02/2017
    Started third business 25/06/2016
    Son born 13/09/2015
    Started a second business 03/08/2013
Officially the owner of my own business since 13/01/2012
  • These things happen. If you are worried about the bruise then take him to be checked out.

My poor Nanny had to phone me on her first full solo day in charge to tell me my eldest had broken her arm! She was heartbroken and was utterly convinced I was going to get rid of her. However sometimes children are just clumsy - my daughter is old enough to know you shouldn't run down the stairs - and for children to sustain no injuries in their lives they'd have to sit still forever which would be no way to live.

Kids will always hurt themselves somehow.

On a more practical note, Arnica cream rubbed on the site of the bump will really limit the bruising and swelling, as will prompt application of butter or margarine.

My nan showed me the butter thing when Twin2 ran into a door frame, the nutter.

What looked like it would be a huge shiner developed into almost nothing after the butter went on!

Faith - exactly the same thing may have happened when mum or dad was there! parents know that kids will get bumps scrapes and bruises! I can remember feeling absolutely awful when my grandson was three and having a sleepover - he got up to go to the bathroom, and took off running straight into a wall corner! he also had to have it glued and I was dreading showing my daughter (it looked really bad), but she was matter of fact about it and reminded me how many times I had taken her and her brothers to A&E!

I wouldn't worry too much. One bruise in a week is bordering on the miraculous for me. My kids are always climbing falling off things, hurtling at full pelt into furniture, etc. All, perfectly normal. :A
  • Thanks for all the reassurance. He is absoutely fine in himself - bouncy and energetic as ever, no loss of appitite, etc - and has gone to bed quite happily after his princess story! In fact, he probably thinks its Christmas again as I feel so guilty I have spoilt him rotten all day and he has a new toy dragon to add to the 20 or so he already had!:rotfl:
  • Eh, when I was nannying my employers went abroad for a week and left me on my own with three young kids. One of them bounced off the trampoline and split her head open on the skirting-board. There was blood all over the place! I had a mad dash to try and keep the child calm while finding someone to mind the other two while I took kidlet to A&E. Where the child had a very searching interview on her own with the staff. I was in bits with guilt although I couldn't have prevented it.

When the parents got back they were very matter-of-fact. "Something dramatic often happens while we're away, we were wondering when it would happen while you were on your own with them".

Oh god, I'm an adult and I think I get more than one bruise a week! It's not shocking for nippers to get bruises and bumps and cuts.....sure I did for most of my childhood, its a natural part
