hiya i sent my forms off for a new single tax credit claim with no child care or disability i have claims previously but not since last year. does anyone know how long this is likely to take i sent the forms on 12th feb.
im worried because my partner moved out on 23rd jan and i forgot to put the letter explaining this in my claim so i called to inform them on 14th they said they will backdate it 3 months anyway as i have not claimed this year i said but he only moved out on 23rd jan so i was not entitled to tax credits before. she said call later in the week when the forms and inform them of the date.
i did this on the 18th and spoke to someone he said they dont have the forms yet but they dont appear on the screen till they are processed i said well should i write and he told me not to because i will hold up the claim if i do is that correct? i made a note of the time and date and his name of the call.
i have had his name taken off the electrol roll, informed paye tax, council tax, closed joint accounts informed his work cause he didnt bother same with his credit cards do i need to tell anyone else i dont want any hold ups with it?
does anyone know how long its likely to take im struggling to pay the bills?

If you only sent the forms on the 12th then it's only been 2 weeks?
When I put in my very firsrt claim it took a good 5/6 weeks to come through, when I changed from a joint to a single claim it took around 4 weeks. It just depends really but in my experience and others I have heard of it's taken a few weeks.
It will be backdated to when you applied though.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

I applied for working tax and child tax credits on 20th December. Still not been processed yet. Call every other day and get the old "we are backed up" line. To date they now owe me over £3000 from the backdated payments and the onlgong payments I should receive. Not much good if they have the money and I'm trying to support a baby. Only a week or two now away from having to become unemployed as the money is needed for basic essentials and I can't keep going on my low income. This is the point of tax credits but they make sure you suffer. Good luck with your claim and hopefully you don't have to wait as long as I do.0

thats a long time when i spoke to the bloke he said it depends on your claim how long it takes ie disability element or childcare mine is a single claim i have claimed before and not claimed this year so mine should be a simple case apparently. they said they aim to deal with it within 3 weeks. are they showing as having got your forms tired traveler?0

They have my forms. Received them in Dec. Then they sent a letter requesting a load of documents etc on 6th Jan. I submitted these documents and then they requested 1 final request of information from me before they process it fully. They received the last bit of paperwork on 14th Feb. This is my first claim. I shold have been claiming in June 2010 when the child was born but didn't know anything about tax credits until December when my new business wasn't growing the way I wanted it. Ran out of savings in Jan2011 and haven't been able to pay myself a wage from the business. The difference of the tax credits would mean I could get my business going the way I want without using the profit to pay rent etc and leave the business broke and unable to advertise or expand.0

Thanks, have to keep going in these tough times. It's a struggle that would be made easy once the credits come in. Hoefully I will look back in a few years and laugh at it all!0
