Opening a new bank account

Hi
My Partner and I are looking to open a new bank account with Lloyds and I am reluctant to do so without knowing if we will be accepted or not, I have access to my credit file but not to my credit rating without paying extra which I dont realy want to do.
Does anyone know what they will look at when deciding if they will give us one at all? I dont want to bother if its just going to be a no and risk lowering my already struggling rating.
I want to open a premier joint account with them as my partner and I have finally decided to join our finances after 12 years together haha!
He has a flawless credit rating and mine not so much :P no defaults but quite a few 3 late payment marks in the last 12 months.
Any advice would be great, wasn't sure whether to post this in debt free or here.

Wait until you've not missed or been late with a single payment for atleast 12 months.
Whilst you may still be approved if you apply now, Lloyds TSB will almost certainly put a "CPD" marker on the account prohibiting you from going above the Silver account, and prohibiting you from having a chequebook, overdraft, or any other credit-related products - and the CPD can take YEARS of exemplary account conduct to drop off.

That's OK. The only reason I say is because I opened a LTSB current account with a less than exemplary credit file and whilst they gave it to me, they didn't allow any credit facilities, upgrades, or chequebook until I'd run the account absolutely flawlessly, not for 3-6 months, or even a year, but over two years!
The same goes for my Flatmate. They gave him one and he's missed a few payments but no chequebook etc.
Good luckHope you manage to get payments back on a flawless track!
