can anyone please tell me how you find out who a website is registered to want to check if something is spam that i have received and i noted that someone listed domain, owner and address etc., Where do you get this from please? any help greatly appreciated. ta.

You can get the info from most domain registration sites, or somewhere like http://www.domaintools.com/

Note that if they have registered as a non-trading individual then the contact details may legitimately be hidden.

If you're checking a commercial website, once you've done a domain whois search (as fwor describes), you might also like to search Company's House (where all UK companies have to be registered).

You can find out if the company is still trading and whether it is associated with any other companies, and you could then search the web, whois records, etc. for details of those companies.

A couple of times I've just done a web search with a phone number or address, and found tens of different companies using the same or similar details - suggesting that the address may just be a processing centre or mailbox, rather than a legitimate business address.

Google Map's Street View feature is also quite handy for checking out an address...
