yes it does take a while to boot up, thanks for extra suggestions. Does that mean that i'm virus clear now? It sounds like the way to go is to swap to firefox. I'm so glad all of you guys have helped me. I wouldn't have known what to do by myself and would have had to pay someone to fix it, but lacking funds this would have had to have waited quite a while. So thank you so much for your patience and kindness in fixing it.

If you've done all the above, it looks clean. If you follow the link in post 31 fully, the speed should improve, especially if you have less than 512MB of ram

unless you specifically want them running all the time (you may want messsenger/skype/webcam), these don't need to be running at startup, you can disable them using msconfig

Feel I may have messed up here, help! was I ment to fix these extra ones with hijack this fix it section? As this is what I've done! Hope this was correct or do I need to correct this. no, you were meant to use msconfig, for all but the 1st one.

if you run hijackthis again, click main menu, view list of backups, hopefully you will be able to restore the changes, try to do this before you shutdown
