  • Thanks dizzle. I was aware that the limit was only assumed. However, when it says on their site that only those with credit less than 10% of their income I don't see how I (or many others!) would be successful with this offer.

Shame really, as 18 months 0% would be fab.

I am not sure how accurate the 10% of salary is enforced in practise. It might be a sop to their responsible lending, have you considered virgin they are generous with limits imo
  • I had virgin last year, moved that to Santander.

Have you closed the virgin one, you can always phone up if you have not and ask if you have any offers on your account. If you have closed it, maybe you could reapply i am not sure how long you have to wait to be classed as a new customer , i reapplied recently and got the same credit limit i had before, although it had been a while. If they have made money from you in the past they might be glad to get you back
  • Well I applied on Barclaycard after speaking to tesco and santandar to see if they can offer me anything (nothing available on my account).

According to the website they can't complete my application today and I'll get a letter within 5 days. Which I'm guessing means I've been declined! (I've never heard that it means anything else)

I think my Virgin card is closed, I know it has a 0 balance. I need to find the link I once saw with who belongs to what and how long you have to leave it before applying again.

If Barclaycard say no I may try Virgin - I might have to just leave it tho and pay interest on both cards *grumpy*

Thank you for all of your help!

This might be of some help

I have 3 cards and my salary is £20021 p/a
1 x store card £1000 = No balance (always paid in full)
    1 x RBS card £1550 = 750 outstanding on it
1 x Tesco card £3000 = no balance outstanding (always paid in full)

I needed to transfer my RBS balance so did the pre-check on Barclay card and got 80-90% on the Platium card.

I got told from the online form they couldn't complete the application and would be sent a letter. I phoned the customer service team the following day and the customer service agent told me I had been accepted and with a limit of £4100

Personally I'd give them a call and see what they say.

I do have a good credit history by taking out new credit once a year (c/card or loan or anything that need a credit check)

however since I work on princeable of 'one in one out' I have just closed my store card.

    Hope this helps

    hi

it does not always mean you've been declined (but obviously it can mean that sometimes). there are reasons sometimes why the application can't be completed within the time limit allowed by barclaycard and they finish it offline
  • I need to find the number and call them I think!

    Thanks people!!
