SpywareBlaster won't open under Vista...

I've been given a friend's laptop (running 32-bit Vista) to "sort out" tonight. I previously installed SpywareBlaster on the laptop and it worked fine, but now when I try to open it, the UAC prompt appears but then nothing happens.

I've scanned for malware, tried uninstalling & re-installing it, tried it in safe mode, but still nothing happens after the UAC prompt appears.

Would anyone know why this might be happening or if there's anything else I can try?

Forget it. Chances are there's malware stopping it from starting.

Start the laptop in safe mode with networking support. Download Malwarebytes Antimalware, install that and do a full scan.

And make sure you charge them enough as you can waste hours of your life cleaning stuff off.

That's what I initially thought, but neither MBAM nor Spybot found anything. I also tried AVG, then Avira (after uninstalling AVG, of course) but nothing is detected.

I just created a new user account and SpywareBlaster works fine, which is strange... I can't see any leftover files in the C:\Users... subdirectories when the app is removed either.

Anyway, I think I'll leave it for tonight. My friend is leaving tomorrow, but I'll probably get the laptop back in a few weeks! Maybe I'll try migrating her to a new user account and hope the problem doesn't recur.

Sadly (stupidly?) I never charge for my "IT services"... Although I was given a couple of bottles of wine, which makes sitting in front of a laptop a bit more pleasant *hic* :)
