Whiplash

Was in an accident last Monday when I was in a courtesy car from Entreprise
after leaving my own car in for some warranty work.
A girl ploughed into the back of me after i had to break sharply to stop me hitting a Landrover that had pushed into my lane across 2 other lanes of traffic ( i would have hit the side of it such was its position).
Anyway, I paid the the excess for the hire car and provided the details of the girl/her car etc. and they followed it up with her and she wanted to pay for the damage herself rather than go through the Insurance.
However, she couldnt do this in case I was going to claim for whiplash.
I felt really bad for the girl, as although she hit my car, i thought the landrover was the real culprit and so i agreed not to claim.

Trouble is, im really sore around the neck/shoulders and have had intemittant headaches all week (i never get headaches).

Is there any risk to me from whiplash or is it just a matter of the pain dying away after a while?

Ultimately compensation doesnt actually make the pain go away but I guess the worse the injury the more you probably feel that you have a right to compensation.

Whiplash is simply a soft tissue injury and therefore 99% of cases the pain simply goes away over time... in severe cases it can last much longer and leave some residual problems but it is more common for their to be something more than whiplash that is the real cause in these cases.

Best thing to do of cause is to see your doctor, they may be able to recommend some exercises to help speed up your recovery or may refer you ro a physio for the same

These things happen. I wouldnt be too worried about putting in a claim if it is really affecting you badly. Even though, so far, she hasnt had to ruin any no claims discount she has, it will still affect her premiums as the incident still has to be reported to the insurance companies, claim or no claim, so her premium will go up anyway.
