Mitsubshi Colt
We've just had a nasty shock as the DMF on our Corolla Verso has gone. It's being repaired but we need to stop using it as we have been ie. too many short trips and keep it more for longer trips. Other car is a Ford KA, bought for DH's commute which he no longer does.
Have tried to make this work for our local running around but tempers are beginning to fray so we need to replace it with a 5 door that is a bit bigger (and flipping heck, people don't half take liberties when you are a woman in a small car but that's another whole thread !) Have looked at the Jazz which I like but they are a bit expensive. So think a 5 door 1.1 Mitsubishi Colt, the pre 2008 model seems like a good bet but would very much appreciate any comments people have on this. Many thanks.

Hi
I have a 56 plate 5 door colt and I love it.
Its good on fuel and its quite spacious for a small car.
Good on insurance and tax too.
I have had the car for 2 and a half years and am in absolutely no rush to update or upgrade it!0 -
Very reliable, very underrated and so relatively inexpensive. Parts prices can be a bit expensive but then you won't need them so often.
Sister-in-law has had one for four years and I don't remember her saying anything had gone wrong with it. Nice to drive as well (I've driven it a few times) -- one of the few small cars that doesn't have the accelerator pedal offset to the left.
I'd say go for it.0 -
This is all sounding very encouraging, thank you.
Mrs Stick, welcome to MSE, hope it saves you as much as it has me !0 -
thank you
And I have to say, my husband is totally demented when it comes to buying new cars. He has to research everything to do with the model before we buy it.
So the colt made it through the 'Mr Stick' test too!0 -
thank you

Mr Stick sounds like a proper geezer, most people buy what looks pretty in the showroom then ask afterwards when the useless thing's in pieces.0
