Hi
My husband is a self employed builder. He is looking for sickness and accident cover. Can anyone give advice on what cover to get and/or recommend cover.

I would suggest he sees an insurance broker for advice. I know this is not the answer you were looking for but it is the best thing to do imo.
Does he have Public Liability cover (I hope he does) if so he could ask the provider of this cover for advice.0 -
An IFA or protection advisor would be worthwhile as they can put your husbands details in and give you a report showing the top 10 companies by price.
However, one thing to be wary is that any review done on a protection only basis doesnt require the best policy to be sold. However, the sheet showing the top companies can be requested and should be supplied. Then if the top company isnt recommended, your husband can then ask them why. If they refuse to show the price comparison, this probably means that they are not independent or whole of market and your husband should walk away.
Permanent Health Insurance (as it is correctly known as) tends not be available on websites that offer a range of providers or where it is, it is limited to one or two companies. So I wouldn't rely on any online quote engines to achieve the best price.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
