I have forms from another bank in the village but that closes at 2.30 and isnt open on a Saturday, do the kids need to be with me to open accounts or would their signatures, their ID and my id be enough? Hummm
I've just been to open littley an 11-16yrs account and she had to be with me for her signature as she gets a paying in book and a debit card. Not sure how old your kids are or what type of account you're trying to open. Is it an option for you to go to a larger branch where there would be better opening hours? x

I sympathise but the banks have a duty to positvely indentify each and every customer. Depending on the age of your children they may not need to be with you. Generally under the age of 11 they do not need to be with you but you will need to take their birth certificate or passport and your ID (if you do not already bank there) Your ID is typically your drivers licence or passport and council tax bill. If the children are over the age of 11 then they usually would be expected to sign the paperwork themselves.
As any other business, banks have targets and young savers accounts don't bring in big points. The staff will prefer to open these type of accounts at a quieter time for them hence trying to put you off. All that said you are the customer and if it had been me I would have challenged the length of time you are having to wait for an appointment.
Some banks have late night opening on one or more evenings, it might be worth checking opening times of the local branches before you decide.
Hope that helps.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
