OS Ideas for my birthday!

  • Chinese or indian takeaway is definitely a good idea. We do it quite often. The 'host' usually does a couple of puds, others bring whatever they like to drink (we all share it) and we order so many set meals and lay it allout as a big feast!! We never order the 'right' number of meals and there's always loads left over, usually costs about £8 or so each for a really good night.

Whe it was my 40th birthday party, and just had a girly evening. I had about 13 girls, did a big pot of chilli and one of curry stuck them both in slow cookers to keep warm, i had a rice cooker of rice ( bought this just for the evening, but now couldn't live without it!) and some jacket pots. cheap as chips!plus it was all done when they got here so I wasn't worrying about being in the kitchen checking on the food all night.... The girls bought the drinks. After we had eaten and had a few drinks:p the music went on very loud (my neighbours are brilliant even though they are both retired!) and we danced the night away. Then once we were all tired out I did a pass the parcel (with some naughty prizes!) I think the last person left at 2.30pm. They all said what a fab night it was:D

Could you ask each of your friends to cook something to bring with them for you all to share?

We are in the same situation this year so I am having a geek night - basically bringing all the gaming consoles from the 70's and 80's down from the loft such as the acorn electron, atari, commodore 64 sega megadrive etc have food and music from the 70's/80's and a bring a bottle party, The food will be from that era too - sausage rolls, bridge rolls with various fillings , chicken nuggets etc .
Shame we can't get party 7's anymore :p
Might even get DD to try some of the concoctions that we used to drink such as brandy and babycham, snakebites and red witches :)
We will also dress in the era .
All my friends and DD's friends (Who have asked if they can come:rotfl: lol 20 somethings enjoying the 70's/80's )think it's a great idea.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I had the girls round recently and had a greek theme - everybody bought a greek dish - it was great fun. another girly night that works well is a pamper night - everyone brings dressing gown and slippers, and nail varnish, cleansers etc. and you give yourselves, or each other, face masks, foot rubs etc.
