Its not for a month but i have to have a plan in action to get all my friends sorted!!!:rotfl: We're all skint.......so decided against meal, drinks etc that would normally cost loads! I have a child free house as they are with their dad that weekend! So the obvious choice is party at mine. Its all girls...perhaps 12/15 of us tops. So what shall we do? It will of course involve copious amounts of alcohol that i'll get everyone to bring along!;)
Just want something a bit different to the normal 'house party'.
Thanks in advance. xxx

A clothes swap party can be good fun0

Could you ask each of your friends to cook something to bring with them for you all to share? Instead of them bringing you a present maybe they could bring a bowl of something each such as curry and rice, chinese stir fry and spring rolls, party food etc.
Seeing as how you are all in a similar financial situation maybe this would take the pressure off your friends who may not have enough money to buy you a gift, but may be able to knock up a food contribution for a couple of pounds?Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Do you know I hadn't even thought of them bringing a present! Certainly don't expect one just their 'presence!!' Thats a great idea about everyone bringing a dish. I did have a thought of 'Around the world in 80 days' type thing were everyone brings something from different places as stated on the invite a starter, main etc so as not to get the same type of things.
I also like the clothes swap idea but perhaps not for a birthday? The problem with us is we are all so different in shapes, sizes and tastes! xxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Accessories swap? jewellery swap? OH swap (joking)! or, how about an 'item of makeup or perfume you have never opened/used' swap? very moneysaving and fun too!

A friend of mine held a chocolate and chilli evenign a few years ago...basically everyone bought along something along those lines....I made a chocolate and chilli cheesecake...another one made some truffles...we put it all together ate loads, probably had one small sweet sherry many and had a brilliant time.
My first thought was also a clothes swapping but someone else has beaten me to it.

Could you all stretch to contribute a small amount of money to get a local curry house to bring some food in? You could cook a big pan of rice and buy a few nan breads from the supermarket and warm them in the oven, then a few curries should not break the bank - as a treat!
I did it for my 50th birthday (negotiated a deal with the local Indian and spent very little for 25 persons!) and someone was so impressed by the quality of the curries that she booked them for her husband's birthday party a few weeks later! Your local curry house might be willing to do a good deal for the publicity they would get with your friends.
Hope you have a fantastic time and happy birthday in advance! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
