Uk coach tours

Can anyone recommend (or warn about) a coach tour company theyve been with?
Were the coaches comfortable, hotels/food ok etc ? Never tried any (except national express) and OH is a bit dubious due to long journey no legroom. Thinking about Scotland or Yorkshire maybe.
We are in the over 60 age group but don't want to be too "organised"

National Holidays, Shearings, David Urquart.
Lochs and Glens (These people have their own hotels and are excellent)
We have been with them all and they are excellent.
Where are you based.
Nationa Express dont do holidays, they do just journey so I presume that yu have been away with
National Holidays. (They are separate companies.)make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Have a look at David Urquhart travel. My parents have travelled with them a lot and always enjoyed the coach travel and the hotels.0

Hi McNeff we're based down south in kent and the longest coach trip we've done was a 4 hour National Express journey! I looked at a Shearings tour which included the Scillys but I think we have to take a feeder coach up north and then wait for a tour bus to bring us all the way down again which must take forever? I've looked at Lochs and glens and they did look good so it's great to hear your praise. At least we'd be going in the right direction and it's a long way from here to Scotland however we go.I'll have a look at the others you mention, thankyou. As you can see we're complete novices!
Just one word of warning, make sure you know where they are picking up from on the way.
We were in Scotland last year and one couple from down south were with us and they said 'never again' the coach went from side to side up the country picking up passengers and their journey took an amazing 11 hours, (with lots of stops of course) but you could fly to America in that time:o)make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Crikey! 11 hours, it's sounding worse by the minute. Maybe we'd be better to fly up and get the coach in scotland but that will probably cost a fortune. I'll have to have a think about this again.0

Shearings operate a feeder service which will pick you up locally and take you to an Interchange where you will then join your tour coach. Saves touring the country picking up other people on the same holiday!Grocery Challenge - Jan £426.06 / £435.00
Feb £376.37 / £435.00
March £0.00 / £435.000 -

Most of them do that. If you live in the Midlands Bowens Travel & Yorks Travel will pick you up from you own house rather than the local bus stationIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -

But bad news if the nearest interchange is in the opposite direction to where you actually want to get to .....0 -
David Urqhart may be good value hotel wise but they do tend to treat you like cattle on the return journey eg a terrible journey from Lisdoonvarna to Glasgow ie departed at 8 am - arrived glasgow 13 hours!!! later and it would have been longer if we did not complain they desperately try and keep that information from you - never again0

Thanks furryboots So many people on here had bad experiences that we've decided coach tours are not for us. Too much time cramped up on the coach which is why a lot of them seem cheap0
