For the person with the dodgy palm tree ~ if it starts to die, you need to chop the trunk back & seal the top with wax, then it should reshoot. But leave alone for a few more weeks yet as we've not had all the frosts yet.
:A
Cheers for the tip re the palm tree - two of the tall ones we also have are totally bald now - they look like two giant scratching posts stuck in the ground  Silly question - but what wax do I seal them with?
Keeping an eye on the front one, it doesn't seem to be dying - well it does...but slowly (not like the other two who pretty much keeled over when it snowed!) but the leaves seemed to be going black and spotty slowly, didn't realise how many of the lower leaves had just died though (the plants were there when we moved in and I kinda just let them do their own thing most of the time). I think i spotted a new leaf though so fingers crossed a bit of sun will perk it up.
ps it also flowered this year so I don't know if that had anything to do with it - one other in the road flowered and looks to be suffering too...another didn't and looks fine? plants eh? where's Alan Titchmarsh when you need him :rotfl:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Hey everyone!
Was supposed to be away this weekend, visiting OH's family, so wasn't expecting any NSD's again. However, life sends things to try us and it didn't quite turn out as planned!
We got just over 100 miles from home, when part of the car engine decided it was no longer happy doing it's job and made a break for freedom, punching a hole through the bottom of the engine in the process! "Never fear" I thought, "I'm covered by the AA through my bank account!" So I called them up and after a chilly hour of standing up on the embankment, wrapped in blankets and wishing we'd broken down *after* we'd pulled into the service station that was less than 200 yards away, rather than just on the turnoff for it, the very nice AA man turned up. We got to sit in his absolute godsend of a toasty warm cab, while he went and had a look at the car and attached it for towing. He came back with some bad news, and then some more bad news
First, he told me about the damage: a new engine will be required, which could cost into the thousands!
Then he told me that the cover I have through the bank is only roadside, so he can't tow me anywhere without me upgrading my membership  I ended up having to pay out £225 to the AA to upgrade and cover the mileage to get us home!
As the initial reason for us travelling down there was for OH to see his son for his birthday, I booked him train tickets once we got back so that he could at least still do this. Another cost, but the way I see it, I will get more money at the end of the month, but he can't get back missed moments with his kids. There's more important things than debt-busting, and to me, this was one of them!
I stayed the weekend with my dad, and visited my grandparents and mum too, so had a really good time, and actually got 2 NSD's out of it, so alls well that ends well
My car is still sitting outside my dad's looking very sorry for itself, and we'll be having a look at it next weekend to see what surgery we can perform to see if we can fix it, but until then I'm walking, so at least I'll get fitter too::: Total Paid Since LBM (27/05/10): £4639.85 Official Debt Gone!! :T ::::AThat money talks, I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"~ VSP2011: #104 ~
