Bank charges from more than 6 years ago

Hi

I was charged alot of bank charges from the abbey about 9 - 10 years ago. Whats the likelyhood of me being able to claim???

Don't think you can claim back prior to 6 years its 'out of time' for claiming.

The Statute of Limitations Act would normally be applicable.

At the Consumer Action Group, we don't believe that anyone could have been expected to know that these charges were potentially unlawful and, as such, think there is good cause to challenge it based on the information we have seen, and indeed cases where people have successfully claimed for charges beyond 6 years.

Has anybody on this website reclaimed charges that are older than 6 years.

Hi

No difference that you no longer have the account, in fact this is even better since they can't use any threat of closure against you.

I'm not sure if anyone on this site has claimed beyond 6 years, but they certainly have on CAG.

I'm trying for 8 years on behalf of my Dad. Makes the interest interesting (excuse pun) because it makes it almost the fee itself.
