Lloyds TSB Classic Plus

Hi :D

I am in the process of getting bank charges refunded from HSBC ;) so am sorting out a 'buffer' account... my credit history isnt too fantastic but I applied with Barclays and got turned down for some reason so then applied to Lloyds TSB for a 'Classic Plus account' and they have accepted me :D

Speaking to friends and family though I am hearing some real horror stories about them... so not too sure about sending the paperwork now :o

Any comments / advice?

Cheers :T

I have a classic account and have had no problems. Their online banking works well and is easy to use. There have been no problems with transactions and the interest is paid promptly on the 1st of every month.
  • I have been with LTSB for about 20 years and have no cause to complain. Their online banking is easy and accurate. I have the Classic Plus Account and both my husband and I have High Interest account; my husband has the Reglar Saver at 8%. for which you need to have a current account.

I've just opened a current account with them and have had no problems so far. The main reason that I did this was so that I could access their regular saver account. I think the current account pays 4%, which isn't the best, but it isn't too bad.

I've just switched to them and the only problems I have had so far is that they opened the classic rather than the classic plus for me (I've been told it was to do with the fact i opened it in a branch) and the switcher team tried to switch over my direct debits faster than the companies could cope with.
Other than that, fine. Internet banking always seems to work fine. Quite easy to use. The internet banking let me set up all my payees up and I got a call from security checking it was me doing all this not some fraudulent person. I received my chequebook, card etc through the post fine.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • Seems a good choice then... got to be a better option than HSBC ;)

My only problems have been when I have had to ring them, the Indian Call Centres have been of a very poor standard, with some very poor English speakers they also do not seem to always understand what they are reading off their screen. Scripted replys from non native speakers is not a good first impression of any bank.
  • I agree,.....internet banking good, call centres bad!

I tried to open an account by telephone, they could not understand what I was talking about and I had to wait several months until I was in the UK and could go into a branch when it was opened with no problem.

Other than the call centre it is fine and if you have internet banking and live in the UK you should have no problems.

have had a Lloyds account as my main current account for about 16 years and they are satisfactory.and just do enough to stop me moving ( although First direct killed their chance of my sole current account this week) staff and opening times are okay but nothing more. ( saturdays how do they get away with it !!!!!!)

have a platinum account now which seems to be UK call centers and again nothing special but nothing too negative.

my advice is avoid the Personal banking meetings they are just a excuse to try and sell you insurance and stuff you don,t need. oh they junk mail you a lot as well
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
