damp proofing companies

Hi all, I'm in the midst of purchasing my first flat but it has serious damp problems. I'm trying to renegotiate the price with the vendor but will be getting a few damp surveyors in to estimate costs. I wondered if anyone had a sense of which damp proofing companies are cheap/average/expensive (in terms of doing the work, not the price of the survey) - I'd like a range of quotes so I know where I stand. I hear Kenwood are a bit pricey

pick a company who is a member of the Property Care Association www.property-care.org
PCA members have to have PI insurance for their surveyors, you get a trustmark approved company
Also make sure your surveyor has the C.S.R.T qualification.
I'm not saying all PCA member companies are perfect, but at least you get an extra level of protection that the yellow pages doesn't give

Its worth noting trading standards only advise using Damp Proofing Association members only. There are properly qualified. Search Damp Proofing Association on Google. :rotfl:
