Leaking Spirovent Aerator in Solar Heating

My Mum has a solar hot water sytem that was fitted about 4 years ago. Now a leak has appeared which is coming from a brass device called a Spirovent Aerator (180 degrees).
I've checked online and found out that this device is used to remove air and/or dirt from hot water. I believe that the device is meant to periodically vent the air it has removed from the water from a valve at the top and it is still doing this but it is also spraying water, which is the cause of the leak.
The people who installed the hot water system have now gone bust, and were very expensive anyway, so I am looking at getting this fixed myself. Can I fix the device or should I just get a new one and fit it?

Good afternoon: have the system checked over by a professional before you proceed. Btw.....a Spirovent Aerator for Solar will not cost 15/20 quid. Contact for Spirotech for further advice.

Can you give me some more details please? It's not possible to contact the original installer as they have gone out of business. Do these systems need servicing beyond what a normal plumber can do? How much will a solar deaerator cost?0 -

Hi...your questions can be answered if you look at the links in my original post. The HHIC has details on solar heating specialists as well as advice on maintenance etc. and Spirotech can advise you on stockists. I can't tell from here what system you have in place or which Spirotech product would be best suited to your mother's installation. A solar heating specialist, after conducting a site survey, would be best placed to advise as most heating installers/plumbers would have no practical experience with the technology.
