Taking a van on a channel crossing

I have tried booking a small car sized van on a channel crossing and it is an arm and leg quote I have had. They treat it as a commercial even though used for a bike trip.

Can anyone recommend a ferry company who would be more sympathetic for a camping trip?

The ferry that we need to take to the UK class those vehicles as commercial - even L200 trucks can be classed as commercial if there are tools in there.

Than DFDS/Norfolk on Dover/Dunkirk

they will only have bike tools and can keep them in luggage if necessary. Thanks
