insurance renewal 300 pounds more then quote by same company online?

My question is can you haggle a car insurance company? and why is it cheaper online then my renewal? my partner has rang twice already and they are not willing to back down on price, but my father is with same company and managed to haggle them down!!!!!!! problem is they are the cheapest car insurer for us but it seems unfair that it is cheaper online then renewal?

Is it the same distribution channel?
For example, I am with M&S on one of my cars. When I last checked I could get around 5 different prices depending on the distribution channel. The most expensive of which (by a long long way) was going direct to M&S themselves.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). we are with tescos , which doesnt show up when we look for new quotes through the other sites and even then the quotes are much higher then the tesco online quote but nearly the same as the renewal.0
