Help with connecting vhs player/sky box/tv please

I've decided to resurrect my video player and am having trouble connecting it all up. I've got so far and it sort of works. However when I tried to record Jamie Oliver over an old tape which had John Barnes discussing football, I recorded Jamie on the picture but John was still on the audio! Weird and I wish it was the other way round as John is infinitely better looking than Jamie! I've tried a few different tapes and it always happens.

The added complication is that I've got a booster box thingummy which has an aerial-type cable going into it from the sky box and a long aerial cable going into the kitchen to the little telly in there. Is there some way I can get the little telly to pick up when I'm playing videos? When the video is playing in the living room it still shows whatever is playing on the living room sky box in the tv in the kitchen.

I've stood and stared at the cable setup on the back of the boxes and tried to work out the logic of it all, I've obviously got some of it right - but think now I have lost the plot a bit so having a nice cup of tea and a sit down. Can anyone point me to a diagram of the best way to set it all up? I think I may be overcomplicating things.

Oh yes, and the sky pic isn't as crystal clear on the tv now, though playing videos is fine.

seems as though it's recording ok, sounds like one of the audio pins is not right, try switching scart cable.

I think what you would have to do is swap the cable going to the kitchen to the video output to watch videos in the kitchen.
