Yahoo/Windows Live = Slow down?

Earlier this week, I downloaded Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger and since then, my laptop has taken much longer to become active. Anticipating it must because of these two downloads, I removed Yahoo Messenger and saw an improvement. Is it correct to assume this was because of the deletion?

    new version of windows messenger is an awful mess imo/ happily used previous versions but this is awful/ have now removed from all machines/ have downloaded Skype and am now using instead :cool:
    BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? :shocked: OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!
